folgendes Problem: Habe nen Dell mit einem kryptischen PLDS DH 16AAS, was sich laut meinen Recherchen als iHAS324 entpuppt. Leider ist die Firmware beim OEM so kastriert, dass nicht mal Jitter-Lesen drin ist. Und auch kein Umschalten von ECC8 auf 1. Ich habe schon gesucht, aber den wirklichen Clou zum Umflashen habe ich noch nicht gefunden:

For those who want to crossflash, here's a quick "how to":
1. Back up your current firmware using CK's Flash Utility. Back up your EEPROM using CK's EEPROM Utility. Keep those two safe.
2. Find a copy of the unscrambled firmware for the iHAS324 A drive (either one in *.exe form from CK's website, or a *.bin dump) and flash that copy to your drive using the Flash Utility. Restart.
3. After the restart your drive will be recognised as an iHAS324 A but its LED will flash continuously and it won't read any discs. That's normal.
4. Open the EEPROM Utility and go to the Crossflash tab. Use the Convert Drive function to complete the crossflash. After the EEPROM Utility finished, restart the computer again.
5. Once you restart you'll notice that the drive will not blink continuously any more and it will of course be identified as an iHAS324 A That's it, you're done! Congratulations, now you've got a proper iHAS324 A drive
NOTE1: You can always revert back to your original drive by flashing the firmware and the EEPROM you've saved at point 1, back into the drive. Just flash both of them and then restart, and you'll have your original drive back!
NOTE2: Once you've crossflashed your drive, if at any point in the future LiteON releases a firmware update, you can use their flasher to update your drive without any problems.
For the record, I've successfully crossflashed my DH-16AAS into an iHAS324 so the procedure works!

Also EEPROM ist klar und schon vorhanden. Leider finde ich nirgends die nötige Firmware (unscrambled firmware for the iHAS324). Kennst vielleicht jemand den Link zur "CK's Website" oder hat ne konkrete Hilfestellung für mich? Vielleicht nen passende Utility zum Flashen?

auf der Codeguys Site ist jede FW Descrambled und wenn die .bin brauchst nimmst das XFlash Utility das auch auf der Codeguys Site zu finden ist und extrahierst dir die .bin .

Vielen Dank! Gibts da noch nen spezielles Tool zum flashen? Irgendwie muss die bin ja dann noch rauf aufs Laufwerk..

Gut das hab ich dann wohl mit XSF verwechselt, allerdings braucht er das ja nicht unbedingt, da Du richtig erwähnt hast auf der codeguys Seite alle Firmwares ungepackt sind, die kann man direkt mit dem flashutility flashen (das braucht er in jedem Fall für einen ihas und gibts auch auf der codeguys Seite), wenn man eine neuere findet oder jemande warum auch immer RPC1 stört kann er dann anschließend den Brenner mit der normalen Originalfirmware ganz normal flashen.

Ich nehm auch fast an, daß das Xflash dann wohl auch keine aktuellen LiteOn Firmwares entpacken kann "XFlash Utility will not work with scrambled/compressed flashers!" Ist wohl nur für ältere LiteOn Firmware, deshlab gibts eben das neuere flashutility das auslesen und flashen kann. Aber zumindest kann man dann mit Xflash wenigstens nichts kaputt machen.

ne die Firmwares von der LT Site sind alle gepackt und verschlüsselt , diese lassen sich deswegen auch nicht direkt mit MCSE o. anderen LiteOn Tools bearbeiten .

Ich fasse also noch mal für mich als Anfänger auf der Schiene zusammen:

Mir bei Codeguys die passende Firmware ziehen, die mit Xflash auspellen und dann mit flashutility draufbügeln? Richtig?!
Danach habe ich dann nen 324er Lite-On... Und wenns nicht klappt, dann gibts nen neuen Brenner

Ich werde auf jeden Fall berichten, schade, dass ich an das Teil heute nicht mehr rankomme...

Neuer Stand: Crossflash hat funktioniert, musste aber noch EEPROM anwerfen, damit er das schluckte. Kurios allerdings, selbst mit gepatchter Version von CD-DVD-Speed ist weder nen Jitter-Scan noch ein Umstellen von Messintervall 8 und 1 möglich. Hat jemand noch ne Idee..?

Auch hier keine Wirkung. Irgendwie mag er nicht...

Ist allerdings etwas seltsam, brennen und lesen funktioniert sauber? Was Du auch ncoh versuchen könntest wäre KProbe, da kann man einstellen ob Sum1 oder Sum 8 Scan. Ist halt bei OEM Laufwerken nie auszuschließen, daß die in irgendeiner Form kastriert sind und eben doch nicht 100% dem Original entsprechen.
